George Wittenborn, Inc. papers, 1930-1982.

This collection documents the changing roles of George Wittenborn's enterprise, including the founding of his landmark store, his ground-breaking publications, his One-Wall Gallery, as well as the store's later years and Wittenborn's own death, in correspondence, photographs, clippings, and catalogues. The Papers include correspondence with numerous prominent artists, translators, critics, and writers who took part in Wittenborn's publishing work, his gallery shows, or simply were visitors to his shop. Also included are several scrapbooks, detailing the press's reactions to Wittenborn's publications (1945-72); another containing reviews of exhibitions at the One-Wall Gallery (1955-70); financial records; exhibition catalogues; and several Dictaphone recordings made by Wittenborn.
